Exciting new feature: Teamspeak 3 DNS

From the latest Teamspeak 3 news:

In addition to core bug fixes and simplification of TeamSpeak 3 prior to its final release version, we are also introducing a new feature -- TeamSpeak 3 DNS. As a teaser all we can tell you at this time is that this feature is similar to Apache's virtual host system and will allow you to for example specify a server address such as customer1.host1.com which will direct you to 1.2.3.4:9987, and customer2.host1.com will direct you to 1.2.3.4:9988, etc. So in essence a port # will optionally no longer be required for connectivity.

Since we already have the custom hostname (eg customer2.teamspeak.cc) feature we plan on supporting this feature as soon as it is released.

Teamspeak 3 server permissions updates and site news

We have pushed out permission updates to *all Teamspeak 3 server to allow access to some new features that did not exist early on in the betas.

*If your "Server Admin" group has not been renamed to something else these permission changes have already been made automatically. If you have renamed the "Server Admin" group you will need to use the "Permissions Compare/Repair Tool" found in our TS3 Control Panel.

You can now upload custom group icons to the server. To access the Server side icons just right click on your server name in the TS3 client when logged in as ServerAdmin and you will see "View Icons". You can then specify these uploaded icons with the permission "i_group_icon_id", Under "Server Groups" within the "Permissions" editor in the TS3 client.

Also, Just released today is the beta16 client build of Teamspeak 3. This build optimized the CELT codec, added Push-To-Talk release delay, and fixed a bunch of bugs.

TS3 Web Control Panel New Feature: ServerGroup Permissions

Our new Control Panel feature "ServerGroup Permissions", allows you to compare any existing server group with preset template values. Then you can choose to:

• Reset the values of any permission that doesn't match the compared template value.
• Remove permissions that are not available in the selected template.
• Reset all server group permissions to the default server group template values with one button press.
• Mirror the permissions of any default server group on to any other server group.

When customizing your server group permissions we recommend that you leave the default server groups (ServerAdmin, Normal, Guest) permission settings alone. Instead create new server groups, if you wish to customize the server group permissions.

On December 18th 2009 at 12:00pm CST we will be upgrading all mumble servers to version 1.2.0. All cleints will need to update to 1.2.0 in order to connect with the updated servers after December 18th 2009 at 12:00pm CST.

Teamspeak 3 Open Beta Announcement

This might be some of the best news all year, TS3 has been in development for a very long time and we will finally get to test it out.
We are pleased to announce OPEN BETA TESTING of the TeamSpeak 3 client and server will commence:

• SATURDAY DEC 19th, 2009
• 13:37 CET (Central European Time)
• 07:37 EST (Eastern Standard Time)

Both the TeamSpeak 3 Client and Server will be available for download and testing on the following platforms:

• Windows (32bit and 64bit)
• Mac OS X (Intel and PPC)
• Linux (32bit and 64bit)

We have received numerous queries regarding whether TeamSpeak 3 will be compatible with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 and in short, both client and server WILL be compatible with these operating systems.

On this date, we expect to approve at least several large Authorized TeamSpeak Host Providers (ATHPs) so users will also have the ability to rent a professionally hosted TeamSpeak 3 server. In addition, we will be offering a limited number of slots/connections available on our TeamSpeak 3 public test servers. However, if you are technically savvy enough to host your own server you will of course also have the opportunity to do so.

Existing TeamSpeak 2 ATHPs will be contacted in the coming weeks with further details on how to become a TeamSpeak 3 ATHP. Established hosting companies who are not currently offering TeamSpeak hosting will also have the opportunity to apply to become a TeamSpeak 3 ATHP ahead of time as well. We will also be coordinating from among our top, established TeamSpeak 2 ATHPs in good standing, the release of the TeamSpeak 3 server PRIOR to the open beta date above to allow time for testing, writing provisioning scripts, planning migrations, etc.
