    Update 2: Network Support Engineers have configured a new switch and are working to bring the replacement into service now. We will update once the replacement has been completed.

As of 11:18pm CST the datacenter recovered from the outage that was caused by multiple redundant network feeds experiencing power loss.     Since 2016-01-17 19:00 CST we have been actively monitoring the servers for packet loss. As of 2016-01-18 08:47 CST the network logs show 0% packet loss and normal ping times. At this time we are considering this issue resolved.

    Change Activity Details: We are completing a round of code upgrades on our Internet Border Routers. We will be working on three of these during this maintenance window. ibr01.hstntx2 ibr02.hstntx2 ibr02.hstntx1 Each router requires a reboot to load the new code. To ensure uninterrupted service we will reroute customer traffic around a router before we reboot it. However, we have seen from our previous code upgrades there is a possibility that rebooting/isolating one of these routers will causes another one of these particular routers to reboot unexpectedly. This behavior has been attributed to a bug that is corrected in the upgraded code.
    Impact Statement: In the event that one of the 3 routers unexpectedly reboots; some customers may experience a brief period of packet loss and latency, to and from their server. This will be due to route convergence as traffic takes a different path while the router reboots, and then switches back to the original path after the router has come back online. This interval should be less then 5 minutes. However, most customers will not experience interruptions in service while we are performing this work.

  • The issue is related to OS updates and a problem that prevented the server from booting. We are working to resolve this asap. For now we are attempting to bring backup servers online until we can fully restore service. Open a support ticket if you have any questions. As soon as service has been restored account credit will be issued for any customer that opens a support ticket.

    UPDATE: The main Texas server went down after failed OS updates earlier today. The current server is just a backup while we reload the OS on the Texas server. We expect to have the normal Texas server operating within the next 2 hours, at that time server query will start working again.

    UPDATE 2: At this time we have switch back to the main Texas server as the OS has been reloaded and the server is operating normally. Should you have any issues please let us know.

  • Our DNS provider is under an DDoS attack and are hard at work to mitigate the downtime. We are also working on setting up more redundancy within our DNS so that events like this cannot happen again. As soon as we have more information we will update this space.

    UPDATE: We have migrated our DNS service to another host and show that most records have propagated. DNS Service should be fully restored as soon as DNS propagates over the next few hours. Next we will be making a considerable investment into several backup DNS solutions to prevent an event like this from happening again.

    UPDATE 2: The migration to a new DNS host is complete. In the past we utilized one DNS provider with 5 diverse DNS locations. Now our DNS setup is using servers from 2 different providers for a total of 8 nameservers.

  • At 1:21 our monitoring systems caught a massive 300mbps+ DDOS attack and automatically enabled flood protection. As of 1:32 all of our monitoring locations reported that normal service has been restored.

  • Due to unresolved network issues with the current Chicago datacenter provider. We will be migrating each Chicago customers account to a new server in a high performance Chicago datacenter at 6:00AM CST 10/05/2011 (tomorrow).

    We have successfully migrated your server to another machine. If you connect with a hostname then you do not need to change anything.

    If using the IP address you will need to use the new IP: 67.202.120.39

  • Our Chicago location has experienced an unexpected service interruption.  We determined the cause of the issue to be a malfunction in one of our edge routers servicing the facility. We are in the process of working with the device manufacturers TAC to determine the cause of the issue and proper resolution to avert any future problems.

     

    UPDATE: All issues have been resolved at this time.

  • We will be conducting facility network maintenace beginning at 10 PM Central time on the evening of Saturday, 2/19/2011 and ending at 2 AM Central time on the morning of Sunday, 2/20/2011. During this time, the facility will be conducting an upgrade of the transport paths between the facility and the network hub at Chicago (350 East Cermak). In addition, the facility will be conducting maintenace on the switches that serve both locations. At present, customers should anticipate no more than 30 minutes of downtime, consisting of several periods of time that services are up and down, although this may change due to various factors and circumsnatances relating to the physical connectivity upgrade.   • We have identified that the New Jersey server CPU load is over our acceptable CPU usage limits. To ensure the best possible service we are going to be performing a system upgrade.

    The upgrade will be performed on Tuesday, February 1st, 2011 at 4PM CST(3PM EST). About 20 minutes of downtime is expected while the server is shutdown and the CPU and motherboard will be replaced.
